Ultherapy

Ultherapy is the first and only FDA-approved procedure to non-invasively lift the eyebrow, neck, under-chin, and decolletage.

Should You Consider Ultherapy?

Our skin loses its tone as we age. Ultherapy can firm and tighten the face, neck, and upper chest using safe, time-tested ultrasound energy, helping you look younger and firmer.

Are You A Candidate?

Our Cosmetic Self Evaluation can help you decide if Ultherapy is right for you.

Overview

Look Firmer and Fresher Without Surgery or Downtime

Aging and heredity cause gradual relaxation of the facial tissues. The skin loses elasticity, and gravity accentuates the sagging. Ultherapy improves the tone of the face by firming and tightening the skin using safe, time-tested ultrasound energy.

Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jumpstarts a natural process, known as neocollagenesis, to product fresh, new collagen.

Ultherapy can help you achieve a fresher, more youthful look from your brow to your chest — without surgery or downtime.

Candidates

Ultherapy Candidates

A good Ultherapy candidate has mild to moderate skin laxity where the skin begins to feel and look less firm. This includes examples such as:

  • A lowered eyebrow line
  • Loose skin on the neck
  • Sagging under the chin
  • Lines or wrinkles on the chest

Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in plastic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a facelift.

Ultherapy is a great alternative for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of plastic surgery.

Procedure Steps

How Ultherapy is Performed

Once you schedule your Ultherapy procedure, you won’t need to follow any special preparations or skin care regimens in advance of the treatment.

Ultherapy is performed as a completely non-invasive in-office procedure. After cleaning the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, your Ultherapy practitioner will apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin. Next, your provider will use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to first see deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and then deliver focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface.

During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

The length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Most patients only need one treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy, and your individual collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, future maintenance treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

Recovery

What To Expect After Treatment

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately after the procedure without any restrictions.

Your skin may appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to the touch, but these are usually mild and temporary in nature.

Choosing an Ultherapy Provider

A highly experienced Ultherapy team is important for obtaining good, consistent results. Proper patient selection, treatment settings, and device application are important factors for success. We have performed many Ultherapy treatments with many happy patients.

Dr. Fan is highly experienced with a full range of facial rejevenation treatments including nonsurgical treatments such as Kybella, CoolSculpting, and Ultherapy, minimally invasive treatments such as liposuction, and surgical facial rejevenation treatments such as facelift and neck lift, so he will be able to help you understand the benefits, expected results, risks, recovery, and limitations of each type of treatment so that you can decide which is best for you.

Costs

The price for Ultherapy varies depending on your areas of concern, the extent of treatment needed, and your ultimate goals. We will help you create a customized treatment plan, in person, that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget.

The cost for Ultherapy starts at $3,000 and up.

See Your Results

Look Firmer and Fresher*

After your Ultherapy treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 3-12 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

Ultherapy FAQ

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy uses the body's own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

What is unique about Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift skin. Ultherapy is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial.

With the addition of the new Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment, Ultherapy is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.

Am I a good candidate?

Good candidates have noticeable bulges of fat in the under-chin region. The Kybella fat reduction treatment is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Kybella is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Kybella, like liposuction or CoolSculpting, will not remove or tighten sagging skin. Request a one-on-one consultation with us to determine if Kybella treatment is right for you.

Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?

Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won't duplicate the results of a facelift. Ultherapy is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How is Ultherapy different from laser or RF treatments?

Ultherapy uses sound energy - tried-and-true ultrasound - which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. Ultherapy ultrasound stimulates collagen production in the skin's foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over 2-3 months.

Lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers at an optimal temperature, so laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin.

Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they're actually very compatible.

Radiofrequency (RF) treatments use radiowaves to heat up the skin and underlying support tissues. RF treatments heat the skin from the top down, which renders them less effective because they are not able to treat the same depths effectively as Ultherapy. This is why most noninvasive RF treatments require 4-6 (or even more) treatments because they are not as effective.

How does Ultherapy stimulate the creation of collagen?

Ultherapy deposits focused, ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jumpstarts a natural process, known as neocollagenesis, to produce fresh, new collagen. Ultherapy doesn't involve any creams, fillers or toxins; it just relies on your body's own collagen-building process for natural, noticeable results.

Does Ultherapy really work?

Yes, Ultherapy works.

The reason Ultherapy consistently works is because its unique technology is able to consistently deposit small amounts of focused, ultrasound energy beneath the skin so that your body is stimulated to create new collagen.

Having said this, you should be realistic about Ultherapy results. Ultherapy actually works, but how well it works for you depends on your individual response, which can vary. Most, but not all, patients see 1 or 2 or even 3 mm of visible skin tightening. However, there is a small chance that you may experience no visible improvement.

It is also important to understand that the results from Ultherapy do not compare remotely to those from a facelift. Be wary of anybody offering a “facelift without surgery.”

How much does Ultherapy cost?

The price for Ultherapy varies depending on your areas of concern, the extent of treatment needed, and your ultimate goals. We will help you create a customized treatment plan, in person, that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget.

The cost for Ultherapy starts at $3,000 and up.

Is Ultherapy safe?

The FDA-cleared Ultherapy® procedure has been used safely in over 250,000 treatments worldwide. Ultrasound energy has been used safely in the medical field for more than 50 years.

How long do the results from Ultherapy last?

After your Ultherapy® Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 3-9 months as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

What does the Ultherapy treatment feel like?

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

Are there any side effects?

The skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.

Will I Need To Take Time Off?

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post-treatment measures.

When will I see results?

After your Ultherapy® Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 3-9 months as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.
