4D High Definition Liposuction is a specialized liposuction technique that creates a more defined body contour by sculpting the superficial layers of fat just beneath the skin and over the muscles. 4D High Definition Liposuction may also incorporate autologous fat transfer (AFT) to augment the musculature. 4D High Definition Liposuction is an advanced technique that requires a great deal of skill and precision, as well as expert knowledge of the body’s form and anatomy and the interaction of light and shadow.

Good candidates for 4D High Definition Liposuction include men and women who:

Are in good overall health and not excessively overweight
Have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone
Desire a more muscular and defined physique including the abdomen, waist, chest, hips, flanks, back, and buttocks

Patients who are overweight, have inelastic (loose) skin, or seek weight loss are not good candidates for 4D High Definition Liposuction.

Patients who wish to reduce unwanted fat but do not require or wish to have enhanced muscular definition may be better candidates for standard liposuction or CoolSculpting.

Procedure Steps

4D High Definition Liposuction is typically an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia, twilight sleep, or local anesthesia.

The procedure begins with very detailed markings to highlight the underlying muscular form.

Once anesthesia is given, very small incisions are made inconspicuously around the targeted areas. Through these small incisions, the superficial and deep fat compartments beneath the skin and around the targeted muscles are sculpted using specialized liposuction techniques. Special liposuction cannulas are used to precisely remove fat, and fat injections are performed to augment and highlight selective muscles.

The end result is a leaner, more ripped physique.

It’s worth noting that 4D High Definition Liposuction requires additional skill, knowledge, precision, and time to perform compared to traditional liposuction.

Recovery

What to Expect After 4D High Definition Liposuction*

You will be able to go home shortly after surgery to continue your recovery. Your body will be bandaged or placed into a compression garment. In occasional cases, a tiny drainage tube may be placed beneath the skin for a few days to prevent fluid build-up.

After 4D High Definition Liposuction, you should expect some degree of soreness, swelling, bruising, and temporary altered sensations. Dr. Fan will prescribe pain medication to help keep you comfortable, and many patients find that they can switch to over the counter pain relievers after the first few days. You should also expect some fluid drainage from the incision sites for a few days. To control swelling and promote skin contraction, you may be given an elastic compression garment to wear over the treated areas for a few weeks.

Recovery time varies from person to person. Bruising typically lasts one to four weeks, while most swelling subsides in one to three months. A small amount of residual swelling may persist up to one year. Time off work is usually three to seven days. Return to exercise is about four weeks. Dr. Fan will provide you with detailed instructions about when it is safe to resume any activity.

Residual soreness, swelling, and altered sensations should gradually subside over the first 3-6 months. The small scars may initially be pink or purple and slightly raised, but they will fade and flatten out in the months that follow surgery, up to two years.

Results are generally seen within one month, but final results are not seen until about one year as the skin continues to retract after surgery.

Maintaining a healthy diet, good overall fitness, and weight control are important after surgery. Please keep in mind that substantial weight gain can alter and compromise your results.

Will I experience any side effects?: Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and all surgical procedures inherently have an element of risk. Some complications that can be caused by liposuction include infection, bleeding, swelling and pain. The risks associated with the procedure are minimal when compared to other types of surgery. An experienced surgeon in a properly equipped operating room rarely sees serious complications set in.
What is the recovery time?: Recovery time varies by individual and by the amount of fat removed from the body. Most people are able to return to work within a few days and can fully resume their usual lifestyle in two to three weeks. You will be required to wear a compression garment for a few weeks after the procedure to help with healing.
How long will the results last?: The results that you see after the procedure are lasting. Once the fat cells are removed from your body, they are gone for good. However, it is important to be aware that weight gain or weight loss can alter the results as you have other fat cells left, which can increase and decrease in size.
